MAYAKOBA CLASSIC - Paul Goydos, Cameron Beckman

The PGA Tour's trip to Mexico has some big names in the field

If Nick

O’Hern has shaken off any rust with last week’s belated seasonal debut,

then he too would appear to have ideal conditions. Another Aussie whom

I‘ve regularly flagged up over the years, Peter Lonard, has shown

plenty at El Camaleon, but unfortunately cannot be recommended after

some truly dire recent numbers.

Funk’s success in particular

shows that experience is certainly no handicap around here, so the

final two slots in the staking plan go to a couple of PGA Tour

veterans; steady, straight-hitting pair PAUL GOYDOS and CAMERON BECKMAN. Goydos, winner of the Sony Open a couple of years ago,

generally thrives when accuracy is the order of the day, and has been

playing consistently well of late, registering five top-25s from his

last eight starts.

Similar comments apply to Beckman, who won

the Frys.com Open in last season’s Fall Series and has made his last

eight cuts. That was the second title of the 39 year-old’s career, the

other coming on another low-scoring, accuracy-orientated layout, so its

no coincidence that Beckman finished 7th on this course two years ago.

80/1 about a recent winner with course form looks decent value.

Good Luck!
