The European Tour moves to Scandinavia this week for the inaugural Made in Denmark tournament at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Aalborg.

It's a new tournament for 2014 and the first time Denmark has staged a European Tour event since the Nordic Open in 2003.

As you might expect, a strong Danish contingent is scheduled to tee it up this week.

Thomas Bjorn and Thorbjorn Olesen - who showed some form at Valhalla - have made the trip from Kentucky, joining the likes of Morten Orum Madsen, Soren Kjeldsen and Anders Hansen in the field.

Other familiar names taking part include the out-of-sorts Nicolas Colsaerts, Chris Wood - fresh off a strong showing in the USPGA - Paul Lawrie, Peter Uihlein and Russian Open winner David Horsey.

It's also a significant week in terms of European Ryder Cup qualification, with only three events remaining until the nine automatic places are set in stone.

Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort is 7,033-yard par-71 layout with a number of sub 400-yard par 4s, but two of the three par 5s measure more than 628 yards.

It's a relatively exposed track with a number of water hazards, undulating fairways and contoured green complexes, so if the wind that's forecast arrives, it could make scoring tricky.

Venue: Himmerland Golf & Spa resort Date: August 14-17 Course stats: par 71, 7,033 yards Purse: €1,500,000 Winning share: €250,000

TV Coverage:

Thursday 14 - 10:30am, Sky Sports 4 Friday 15 - 10:30am, Sky Sports 4 Saturday 16 - 1:15pm, Sky Sports 4 Sunday 17 - 11:30am, Sky Sports 4

Player watch:

Thorbjorn Olesen - The Dane, looking to make an impact on home soil, should be buoyed by a final-round 67 and a top-30 finish at the USPGA Championship

Chris Wood - The tall Bristolian shot a final-round 65 at the Open Championship and put in a strong performance at Valhalla

Marc Warren - Warren finished 3rd at the Scottish Open, threatened to contend at The Open and came 15th last week at the USPGA, so he'll be extremely confident.

Skills required:

Wedge play - With a number of short par 4s and two 600-yard plus par 5s, hitting the ball close from 75-125 yards will be important.

Key hole:

18th - It's only 419 yards, so birdies are on the cards, but a large pond starts 50 yards short of the green on the right of the fairway and protects the front of the putting surface.
