Leading golf charity the Golf Foundation has announced that BBC commentator Ken Brown and Olympic gold medalist Denise Lewis have followed Lee Westwood in agreeing to become Golf Roots Ambassadors.
Brown, Lewis and Westwood will help the Foundation to connect youngsters with golf facilities in order to grow the game in support of the work of the national golf partnerships of England, Scotland and Wales.
On the announcement, Denise Lewis said: "Since retiring from athletics, I have been bitten by the golf bug!"
Mike Round, chief executive of the Golf Foundation, suggested that Brown's involvement could be beneficial in enhancing golf's universal appeal: "Ken has been a friend to the Golf Foundation for some time now and we're thrilled he has agreed to become an Ambassador and communicate the message that golf is for everyone."
On his recent appointment Westwood said: "The Golf Foundation has helped thousands of youngsters, me included, over the years and I am delighted that they consider me worthy of carrying the title and their good name forward."
Golf Root's ambitious aims include a major Golf Roots project in every county; an increase in the number of children playing at clubs, and a £10 million investment in grass roots junior golf by 2013.
All those wishing to support Golf Roots can do so through golf-foundation.org or by calling 01992 449830.
