Kaymer family business at Dunhill Links

Martin Kaymer partners his father Horst in the Dunhill Links Championship this week, with brother Philip carrying their father's bag
It is going to be a united family effort at the 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship from the Kaymers this week, as Martin Kaymer looks to claim his first win of 2015. Germany’s Kaymer has invited his father Horst to join him in Scotland as playing partner in the famous autumn pro-am, while Kaymer’s brother Philip – who also manages his brother’s day to day business – is caddying for their father.
That’s three Kaymers in one tee time tomorrow morning at 10:17 at Carnoustie, in the first round of this tri-course tournament, in which all pairs play three rounds before the cut, at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and on the Old Course at St Andrews, where the final round is also played.
There is something of a family tradition in the Dunhill Links Championship, as Horst first played in the event in 2011, while he carried Philip’s bag in 2008 and 2013.
“It will be entertaining,” said Martin Kaymer yesterday. “My dad and brother argue once in a while which is quite fun. Hopefully this year we'll make it to play on Sunday at St Andrews as a team. Last time my dad played I had to play the Sunday without him as we didn’t make the cut as a team, so the goal this year is for us both to play on Sunday.”
World number 20 Kaymer is looking for a strong finish to his 2015 season in Europe after finishing runner-up to Rikard Karlberg in a playoff to decide the Italian Open two weeks ago.
“I have been playing well recently,” said Kaymer, 30, whose last victory was the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst. “A little bit has been missing here and there, but it's not much, nothing to worry about. Obviously it's hard to win golf tournaments. You need a little luck here and there, but coming here, where I won in 2010, it's a place that I enjoy, that I really, really like and that I'm very passionate about.
