Joburg Open latest: Round one
Fisher Jnr and Jeppensen lead the way in South Africa as defending champion Richard Sterne lags behind after day one of the Joburg Open

Trevor Fisher Jnr shares an eight-under lead with Swede Steven Jeppensen after Round One of the Joburg Open.
The South African completed play with nine birdies under his belt; six of them coming before the turn. He only dropped one shot on the par-four tenth. Jeppensen had a more steady round hitting 10 pars and keeping pace by sinking two eagles on the par-five 2nd and par-four 7th.
Michael Hoey sits in third on seven-under, while a handful of players including Golf Monthly’s advised bets Andrew McLardy, Rafael Cabrera Bello as well as Alfredo Garcia-Heredia, Edoardo Molinari, Patrik Sjoland and David Drysdale sit on six-under.
Defending champion Richard Sterne finished day one on par after a frustrating morning dropping shots on par-fours 10th, 14th and 15th.
Sterne is looking for his third consecutive win on the European Tour, having had recent wins at both the Alfred Dunhill Championship and South African Open. If the 27-year-old pulls it off he will join Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo as the only men to do so.
