Griffiths triumphs at Remedy Oak
Former European Tour player David Griffiths won his first TP Tour Series event of the season with a new course record at the Remedy Oak Golf Club
David Griffiths set a new course record en route to victory in the latest TP Tour Series event at Remedy Oak Golf Club near Bournemouth on August 30.
Griffiths headed a strong field of touring professionals, including European Tour player Richard Bland - who won last week at Blackmoor Golf Club - and Australian Daniel Gaunt.
The Dorset venue is gaining a reputation as one of England's finest new courses, and has been listed as a future R&A qualifying course for The Open.
The scoring was relatively high at Remedy Oak, with Bland carding a 71 to sit just one behind Tom Wade and three-time TP Tour winner Jeremy Kavanagh, who were the early leaders in the clubhouse.
Gaunt then snatched the clubhouse lead, carding a course record three-under-par 69, but former European Tour player Griffiths proceeded to blow the field away.
He matched eight birdies with one bogey to smash the course record by four shots and win £1,200 in just his second start of the season.
The next TP Tour Series event takes place at Berkhamsted Golf Club, Hertfordshire, on September 3rd, with the top three on the TP Tour money list earning a place at European Tour Q-School.
