Greens get go ahead at Loch Lomond

Throughout the month of May, members at Loch Lomond have had to play with temporary greens as staff tried desperately to make them match fit for the Barclays Scottish Open in July.
Luckily, the weather finally improved to help move them back into shape. The problem had occurred during bad weather patterns in the winter, with thick snow and heavy rain challenging the staff like never before.
April wasn't the best month for admirable weather either, staying cold and giving course staff an even bigger task than was already at hand. Competing against time, the work force at Loch Lomond were forced to re-turf various greens on the course.
Numerous people from the club backed the decision to allow temporary greens to be brought in, otherwise they wouldn't be acceptable for the world-class field at the Barclays Scottish Open.
Recent US Open champion Graeme McDowell, who won the Barclays Scottish Open in 2008, still rates Loch Lomond as one of his favourite venues, and thanks to tireless work from the green staff the hallow turf will remain in impecable condition this year.
The 2010 Barclays Scottish Open will host Major champions such as McDowell, as well as numerous Major contenders like 18-year-old Ryo Ishikawa from Japan, who will make his second appearance on European soil when he travels to the West of Scotland.
