Golf Monthly's week that was
Golf Monthly reviews a busy week in and out of the office including the goings on at Wentworth where the BMW PGA Championship is underway, as well as all the latest equipment and industry news.

The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth is the European Tour’s flagship event. Featuring a star-studded line up and €4.5 million purse, fewer events over the course of the season attract so much attention. So, Golf Monthly made the trip to Virginia Water where Neil Tappin lined up alongside Rory McIlroy in Wednesday’s Pro-Am. More of that in a later issue.
It’s fair to say events at Wentworth have taken centre stage this week, and hopefully you were able to bet wisely following Fergus Bisset’s preview and Paul Krishnamurty's betting guide. Ross Biddiscombe also kept us up to speed with some lesser knowns, the professionals trying to make a name for themselves on Tour.
Away from the Tour and it’s beginning to get busy again on the equipment front. This week some interesting new gear has been heading off to the photographers, but keep an eye out for all the latest reviews and galleries, as more often than not someone intercepts a delivery and heads to the driving range, and we’re keen to bring you all the latest blogs.
In the Golf Monthly Forum we’re ashamed to say that things got childish. An innocent thread questioning staff handicaps unfortunately descended into a slanging match, more befitting to a school playground. Still, all good fun and we welcome your views and opinions as ever in the Forum.
Lee Westwood's caddie has announced his plans to walk 90 miles to Turnberry, José Maria Olazábal has been elected to join the World Golf Hall of Fame, and Nick Faldo has revealed his plans to play in Open Championship at Turnberry.
Elsewhere in the industry, the Golf Foundation Awards celebrated the heroes of grass roots junior golf and FootJoy DryJoys revealed its exclusive anniversary golf shoe range.
Next week we’ll round up events at Wentworth and look ahead to the European Open at The London Golf Club. Before that, enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and happy golfing.
