A glorious James Braid design, Perranporth is a glittering jewel in Cornwall's golfing crown. If you get the chance go and visit immediately and prepare to be blown away by the quality of the feast and the excellent value for money.
South of Newquay in Cornwall, Perranporth Golf Club is a James Braid design that overlooks Perran Bay.
The great architect took advantage of the natural contours of the land and produced a unique layout with many undulations and blind shots to contend with.
Course lowdown: The greens are excellent and many are raised and undulating. When it dries out in the summer your ball-control abilities and short game will be fully tested. The toughest hole, the 14th, a 394-yard par 4, features a large sand dune left and a cliff right.
Stats: par 72, SSS 72, 6,296 yards
History: Dates back to 1927.
Green fees: £35 wd, £40 we. £5 fixed fee for extra holes (27). Discount available for societies of 12 or more golfers.
