South of Newquay in Cornwall, Perranporth Golf Club is a James Braid design that overlooks Perran Bay.
The great architect took advantage of the natural contours of the land and produced a unique layout with many undulations and blind shots to contend with.
Course lowdown: The greens are excellent and many are raised and undulating. When it dries out in the summer your ball-control abilities and short game will be fully tested. The toughest hole, the 14th, a 394-yard par 4, features a large sand dune left and a cliff right.
Stats: par 72, SSS 72, 6,296 yards
History: Dates back to 1927.
Green fees: £35 wd, £40 we. £5 fixed fee for extra holes (27). Discount available for societies of 12 or more golfers.
