French Rugby Federation supports Ryder Cup bid
The FFR will show its support for the French 2018 Ryder Cup bid at this weekend's Six Nations match against England
The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has leant its support to the French bid for the 2018 Ryder Cup, as the decision on the host country draws near.
The FFR have chosen its upcoming match against England at Twickenham, to show its support for the bid. Each player will adorn the official France 2018 Ryder Cup candidate badge upon their sleeve during the match.
FFR President, Pierre Camou, highlighted the importance of their support: "I am very aware of the significance that hosting the Ryder Cup represents and I fully support their bid. It is important that all of French sport is united behind French bids to host major international events."
The FFGolf has invested hugely in its bid in the hope of maximising the enormous benefits created by hosting such a major event. The selected course is the Golf National, host of the French Open last year.
Support for the bid comes from both sides of the channel. Colin Montgomerie, victorious Ryder Cup captain at Celtic Manor, acknowledges the difficult decision facing the European Tour, but feels that "France is the way to go for 2018",
The French bid has highlighted 12 key areas which it believes will ensure the most successful Ryder Cup to date. These include the future growth of golf across Europe and the nation's backing for the event with public, commercial and governmental support.
What's more, Golf National is situated adjacent to Paris and the Chateau de Versailles, providing a cultural experience for all.
