European Tour Schedule 2019: Tommy Fleetwood Hosts British Masters

The European Tour's 2019 schedule has been released and the headline news is that the British Masters WILL be returning.

The tournament was in doubt after Sky Sports' sponsorship ran out but Tommy Fleetwood is stepping in to host at Hillside GC in his hometown of Southport.

Other big news from the 2019 schedule includes the USPGA Championship moving to May and the Tour's flagship BMW PGA Championship moving to September.

European Tour schedule 2019: Main points of note -

  • Tommy Fleetwood to host the British Masters at Hillside GC in second week of May, before USPGA Championship
  • Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has been upgraded to a Rolex Series event.
  • The European Tour's first ever event in Saudi Arabia will take place in January at Royal Greens G&CC in the King Abullah Economic City (KAEC).
  • The Vic Open in Australia will take place the very next week which sees the men's and women's European Tours compete together for the first ever time.
  • The Joburg Open has been merged into the South African Open and will take place in December. It will include 240 players from the European, Sunshine and Asian Tours.
  • Made in Denmark returns to Himmerland Resort, featuring the special par-3 16th, which moves to the BMW PGA Championship's usual May spot from its August date.
  • The GolfSixes will take place in Portugal, there is currently no venue for it as of yet.
  • WGC-St Jude Invitational to take place instead of WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, new venue is TPC Southwind.
  • Spanish Open returns, venue currently TBC.
  • Nordea Masters replaced with Scandinavian Invitation.
  • Open de France no longer a Rolex Series event and currently without a sponsor.
