The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was cancelled after 54 holes due to bad weather, which resulted in Dustin Johnson winning without having to hit a ball on Monday.
There was hope that the tournament could be completed on Monday by sending out threesomes, but the bad weather that had been predicted made any further play impossible.
Johnson held a four-shot lead over Mike Weir following Saturday’s 7-under par 65 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, but the course was under water on Monday and the tournament organisers were forced to abandon play.
"I prepared myself that we were going to play today," said Johnson.
"I did everything normal like we were going to play. I still went to have breakfast, and that's when I found out that we weren't going to play.
“I found out from another player who actually called me and congratulated me. And I was like, 'What are you talking about?'"
It was the first time that an event on the PGA Tour had been cut short since 2005 when Phil Mickelson claimed the BellSouth Classic.
South Africa’s Retief Goosen finished back in third on 10-under par with American duo Bob Estes and Mark Calcavecchia finishing one shot back in a tie for fourth.
