England A Squad member, Hugo Dobson, extended his rich vein of recent form with victory at the Faldo Series UK Championship at Hollinwell Golf Club. The runner-up in the Under-15 age category at the 2005 Faldo Series Grand Final, arrived at Hollinwell having just won the inaugural South East of England Links Championship at Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports.
Dobson posted rounds of 70 and 71 to claim first place in the Boys' Under-21 category and lift the overall prize on three-under-par, a single shot ahead of Andrew Scrimshaw (Prudhoe) and Greg Eason (Kirby Muxloe). The two handicapper now progresses to the 2010 Faldo Series Europe Grand Final, to be played at the Lough Erne Resort, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, on September 21-23, where he will be joined by the other age group winners at Hollinwell, Scrimshaw (Boys' Under-18), Michael Pressick (Boys' Under-16) and Danielle Anderson (Girls' Under-21). Anderson, from Rochford Hundred Golf Club in Essex, made a fine start to the Girls' Under-21 event when she posted a two-under-par 73 in the opening round. She needed 12 shots more to compete the fine Hollinwell course the following day but that was still enough to give her a four-shot victory over Leighton Buzzard's Lizi Sweetnam.
Zoe North (Kilworth Springs) was third in the Girls' Under-21 event after rounds of 82 and 83. For further information please visit nickfaldo.com
