Course of the Week - Ilkley
Tree-lined and with beautiful views, Ilkley is a captivating setting and a great test of golf.

Tree-lined and with beautiful views, Ilkley is a captivating setting. Although it?s a relatively short track it?s far from being a push-over.
Course lowdown: Many of the holes are severe doglegs because, due to the size of the trees it?s become impossible to cut the corner. The first seven holes don?t suit a hook. The 1st, at 410 yards is the toughest hole, playing straight into the prevailing wind. The river waits on the left and trees on the right.
There are no bunkers on the the 3rd hole, but at 200 yards with the river on both sides, this is a challenging hole.
Stats: par 69, SSS 70, 6,256 yards
Green fees: £45wd, £55we/bh
Location: Nesfield Road, Myddleton, Ilkley LS29 0BE
History: When Ilkley Golf Club was founded in 1890 play was over a nine-hole course in a different location. Harry Vardon won his first prize as a professional on it in 1893. Ilkley moved to its current site on the banks of the River Wharfe in 1898, when it was increased to an 18-hole course.
