Colin Montgomerie in World Cup defence bid
Colin Montgomerie heads to China this weekend where Scotland will defend their World Cup of Golf title at Mission Hills
Colin Montgomerie heads to China this weekend where Scotland will defend their World Cup of Golf title.
Twelve months ago Monty paired up with Marc Warren and they defeated the United States in a play-off, ending 54 years without success in the tournament.
This year Monty teams up with Alistair Forsyth who claimed the Madeira Islands Open BPI in March.
Although Forsyth has struggled since then, Monty was in impressive form at last week s Hong Kong Open the highlight a round of 65 that helped ensure a top-20 finish.
Montgomerie, 45, missed out on this year s Ryder Cup, but the team format will clearly suit the Scot as he looks to build on last week s form.
However, notable opposition stands in the way of Scotland s defence including England s Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher.
Poulter teamed up with Justin Rose last year where the English pair finished fourth.
