Chevron World Challenge betting guide
Sixteen world-class players, but no Tiger Woods. If ever there was a golf tournament where betting was based on guesswork, this is it
Without knowing their holiday plans, its hard to know who else might be well prepared. Jim Furyk can usually be relied upon to put in his best, and its hard to imagine Vijay Singh treating even a practice session lightly. Of that high-class pair, preference has to be for Furyk, as Vijay was injued throughout the autumn and has only played well once on six previous invites to Sherwood. Camilo Villegas is another young player who should be hungry, and he rates a much better 8/1 chance than Kenny Perry. True, Perry played some excellent golf at Sun City just a fortnight ago, but I’m not convinced that the 49 year-old is ever going to consistently produce against the best again. Instead of more win only bets on any of that lot, I’m going for a couple of each-way selections. Firstly, MIKE WEIR was as consistent as anyone during the second half of the season and may be under-estimated at 14/1. Its also very encouraging to see that he finished a respectable 4th on his sole previous Sherwood outing, especially as he started terribly with a 75 on this birdie-friendly layout.
