BMW PGA Championship betting guide: Andres Romero

Now to Wilson, whom I've already mentioned in relation to the Race to Dubai. He blew a golden opportunity to win this title last year, and while that isn't his only final round flop, I'm still not prepared to write him off as a bottler. The old cliche that once he gets that first win, many more will follow, may apply here. His recent form is certainly very competitive, with 14th in Ireland a respectable effort and 5th at Doral an outstanding one. Furthermore, it bodes well that Wilson thrived in wet, pick and place conditions in the season opening HSBC Champions Trophy, another event where his supporters were frustrated by another second place.   Of the rest, dual tournament champion Anders Hansen must come into considerations after a consistent first half of the season. Fellow Scandinavians Soren Kjeldsen and Peter Hanson both have snippets of course form, in contrast to Soren Hansen and Johan Edfors, whose Wentworth records are dire. Other regular candidates whose course records leave plenty to be desired include the resurgent Thomas Bjorn, bang in form pair Alastair Forsyth and Robert Rock, plus Graeme McDowell, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Francesco Molinari, Charl Schwartzel and Jeev Milkha Singh. Unless one of those improves markedly on their Wentworth records, thats an awful lot of serious contenders to be written off, which must bode well for our selections.   The final spot in the staking plan was between Thomas Levet and ANDRES ROMERO, with the latter getting the verdict on the basis that he hits it much further. Levet is playing very consistent stuff from tee to green right now, and in dry conditions would have a strong chance. However, while he may be infinitely more consistent than Romero, the Argentinian rates a likelier winner in these conditions.   I can't make a case for Romero on recent form grounds, apart from one excellent 3rd place at Riviera, but as we have seen before he can suddenly burst to life and produce world-class golf. It bodes extremely well that this massive hitter, whose shoot the pin style could thrive on receptive greens, has already registered finishes of 6th and 12th on his first two Wentworth visits. Few have ever prospered so immediately around this famous course.
