BMW Championship betting guide
Golf betting guide for the BMW Championship at Cog Hill. Golf Monthly gives you three tips, plus details of how you can claim up to £50-worth in free bets from Ladbrokes
This week's golf betting guide for the 2011 BMW Championship is a tough one to call. With the race for the FedEx Cup gathering nearing its conclusion we should have a fair idea of who's in good form. But with all those dollars up for grabs and only the top 30 making it to the Tour Championship, there's everything to play for and maybe a surprise winner is on the cards.
On the subject of form, Luke Donald starts as 12/1 favourite. He's in good form but when is he not these days? Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott are next in the betting at 16/1. Again, you can't argue with that. Scott certainly looks close to his old self and he was showing signs of getting his game back in order well before Steve Williams changed his life.
As you'd expect from a tournament reserved for those who has been racking up the dollars this year, you could make a case for any one of the starters at Cog Hill. However, with the smaller field, the 'genuine' cream should rise to the top and in that respect the bookies have it spot on.

For some reason, though, Dustin Johnson still looks to be great value at 16s. He's the defending champion. It's well laboured that defending champions have all the extra media commitments to contend with but few things worry Dustin and he seems somewhat of a FedEx specialist. He'll win Majors, that's for certain. A quarter the odds for first five in a smaller field as well, get on!
Now for a slight contradiction. Not everyone is in top form despite their place in the field this week. A few of these chaps will have made their big bucks earlier in the year. That said, I'm not knocking Chris Tringale at 150/1.
Odds of 80/1 on Chez Reavie, who missed out on a play-off to Webb Simpson a fortnight ago, look harsh on the player, but great for us. He's not prolific but with golf betting it's often about making a call on whether you think your player has the form to nudge his way into the each-way spots. Step forward Chez.

Finally, we're excited by Sergio Garcia's encouraging form. That next win can't be far away and at 40/1 he's good value as well. He'll frustrate you at times and miss some short ones, but his putting has improved and as the season nears the end, one of our favourite Spaniards is smiling again. Make us smile Sergio, get the job done this week...
