Barton-on-Sea is our Course of the Week
If you are looking for a spectacular layout, with great sea views and fantastic course condition, then look no further than Barton-on-Sea. This 110-year-old club, set in the New Forest, overlooks the Isle of Wight.
On the cliffs between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea, Barton-on-Sea Golf Club enjoys spectacular views over the Solent to the Needles rock and the Isle of Wight. There are three loops of nine holes: Becton, Needles and Stroller. Becton and Needles make up the most commonly played 18.
Course lowdown: The wind is the big factor here. Take more club and play a punchy shot to keep it low. On most holes you can open your shoulders and go with driver off the tee but good course management is required to score well. The ground, and the greens in particular, are fast-running in summer.?
