A really strong field has gathered for the Arnold Palmer Invitational and looking at
Ladbrokes' book, there are some great betting opportunities to be had.
Earlier this week we were 'treated' to a little bit of a bonus, the Tavistock Cup. Some team won, not sure who, but I'm sure they played really well. From a betting perspective it would be foolish to read too much into form on what was essentially an exhibition match, but it's definitely worth going back to the weekend's Transitions Championship.
As is stands Ernie Els will not be playing at The Masters. He blew a golden chance to win the Transitions as he bogeyed the last two holes. His bogey on 18 was a shocker that could cost him dear, but the 'Big Easy' is made of strong stuff and his odds of
40/1 are really appealing. He's pick number one.
Tiger Woods starts as the 7/1 favourite. If he doesn't withdraw I'd put my house on him finishing in the top 10, but he still doesn't look the winner he once was. It seems silly to say the same of Mickelson as he won the AT&T National this year, but at
14/1 there are a host of other players that look well worth a punt.

Our second pick is Jeff Overton. He's
50/1 with Ladbrokes and even though question marks linger over his game under pressure, he's a very good each-way shout after coming back into form at the Transitions, finishing just one back of eventual winner Luke Donald. It wasn't long ago that he seemed to occupy a spot near the top of the leaderboard every Sunday before going off the boil, so grab his at 50s whilst you can.
Sergio Garcia almost got the nod for my final selection but in amongst all those top-quality iron shots lurks a bad round that is just holding him back from getting back to winning ways. He's close but I've opted for Webb Simpson at 16/1, instead. Those odds aren't especially great but I've been really impressed with Simpson's use of the long putter. Much like Keegan Bradley, he doesn't look like he'll miss. He's consistent and should figure come Sunday.
