18-year old Annabel Dimmock has turned professional and will play on the Ladies European Tour.
Dimmock leaves a glittering amateur career in her wake including the title of number one ranked female amateur golfer in Great Britain and Ireland. The Wentworth Club based teenager had reached number ten on the World Amateur Golf Ranking in addition to a string of excellent results in 2014 including winning the Sunningdale Foursomes and the Helen Holm Scottish Open.
She was also the youngest member of the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup Team at St Louis in the United States, a Junior Ryder Cup player and Team GB member at the Summer Youth Olympics in China.
‘I am looking forward to playing in my first tournaments as a professional. My first year is all about learning and trying to gain my full card. Charley Hull and Amy Boulden both winning the LET Rookie of the Year award has really inspired me’, said Annabel. ‘I like to set myself regular small achievable goals and work hard at it’.
Wentworth’s Golf and Tennis Foundation has supported Dimmock as a junior and the club’s Chief Executive, Julian Small, said, ‘A big part of Wentworth’s ethos is to inspire the next generation to play golf and the Scholarship programme offers a great opportunity for local girls and boys to do that. Having seen the success of Ross Fisher, it is wonderful to now see our first female scholar achieve professional status and play on the Ladies European Tour. We are looking at how the club can support Annabel in her career and wish her the best of luck’.
Dimmock makes her professional debut at the RACV Ladies Masters in Australia, the opening event of the LET, next week, followed by a start in the ISPS HANDA Ladies NZ Open two weeks later.
