Alfred Dunhill Links Championship: golf betting guide
This week, the European Tour heads to Scotland's east coast for the ever-popular Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The three-course event - staged over the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns - is one of the most prestigious titles on the European circuit, and the field this week bears testament to that.
The likes of Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie will all be joining defending champion Branden Grace on the hallowed links.
This week, shot-making, imagination, a sound temperament and the ability to control ball flight will be important attributes.
Martin Kaymer is 20/1 favourite with Ladbrokes, but with such a strong and diverse field, there is better value to be had.
Stephen Gallacher, at 33/1 with Ladbrokes, is a fine links player. The Scot finished second at Gleneagles, ninth at the European Masters and fifth at the Alfred Dunhill Links last year.

Bernd Wiesberger, also 33/1 with Ladbrokes, has been in good form recently. The Austrian - who ranks 12th this season in Stroke Average, 16th in Driving Distance and 23rd in GIR - has two top tens in his last three starts.
Alvaro Quiros, at 50/1 with Ladbrokes, is another player coming back into good form. Granted, his record on links courses isn't fantastic, but a 22nd-place finish at the KLM Open and an 8th place last week at the Italian Open suggest another win isn't far away. Fredrik Andersson Hed, at 80/1 with Ladbrokes, is someone I've been keeping an eye on recently. The Swede played well at Gleneagles, finished fourth last week and he also boasts a decent record in the Alfred Dunhill.
Oliver Fisher, at 150/1 with Ladbrokes, is a good each way bet this week. He finished 11th two weeks ago and came 15th in the Alfred Dunhill last year.
