Abu Dhabi Championship betting guide
Look at who Golf Monthly think will perform well this week
The European Tour travels to the Middle East this week, take a look at who Golf Monthly think will perform well in this Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship betting guide
Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship betting guide
Welcome to the first betting guide of the 2015 season. Each week throughout 2015 we will go head to head in a challenge against our bloggers DownThe18th.
For each European and PGA Tour event that we cover we will have £10 to place on the tournament. This can go on one player to win, or perhaps as many as 5 players each way. Whatever each writer thinks will work best.
Each week DownThe18th will do a blog recapping how the betting went and giving a weekly update on how each side are faring.
So without delay here is the guide for the first event of the desert swing, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship betting guide.
Pablo Larrazabal defends this week and the champ is a tasty looking 70/1 however the chances of the Spaniard repeating his superb performance from last season is unlikely.

There are also the key problems that both the world number one and two are playing here and Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson have both tasted success in the Middle East before.
Also in the strong field are Justin Rose and twice winner at Abu Dhabi before Martin Kaymer.
The odds really are not favourable for many of these top players, and for a reason, I expect them all to feature come Sunday.
So this week the idea is to try and make a profit of £50 if at all possible, with still recouping the stake at the very least.
Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship betting guide advised bets
Martin Kaymer £2.50 Each way at 12/1 – Total stake £5
The winner in Abu Dhabi in 2010 and 2011 it is always tricky to look past the German. He is a longer price than the other big names in the field and you would hope a top 5 finish would be well within his grasp.
Jamie Donaldson £2 Each Way at 25/1 – Total stake £4
The Welshman has tasted success at this venue before when Donaldson won in 2013, a victory that started him on the road to success and ultimately hitting THAT shot at the Ryder Cup in October. Has not played for a while and should be refreshed and ready to go come Thursday morning.
Alvaro Quiros a £0.50p Each way at 100/1 - Total stake £1
My outside bet goes to the likeable Spaniard. He has not been the same since injury in 2012, but he has good results in the desert and of course won the Dubai World Championship and Dubai Desert Classic in 2011 and Qatar Masters in 2009. Has had some solid performances in Abu Dhabi in the past, and when you pick a 100/1 shot you just want them to make the cut to start with!
Each way bets ¼ odds for top 6 finish. Prices sourced from Paddy Power
