Star athlete Oscar Pistorius will tee it up this week at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship alongside other celebrities and some of the best golfers in the world.
The 25 year-old South African - nicknamed the ‘Blade Runner' for the carbon fibre blades that he uses - became the first double amputee to compete in the Olympics this year, whilst also winning Gold and Silver at the Paralympics.
The 18-handicapper joins a world-class field - including 10 major winners - to compete in the event, which celebrates the best of links golf.
Held over three prestigious courses, St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, the Alfred Dunhill Links is made up of two competitions, one open solely to the professionals and another in which the tour players compete alongside amateurs.
"It's a real treat to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. I am a big golf fan and love the game. I have never played St. Andrews, Carnoustie or Kingsbarns before, so playing them in a world-class event is a unique opportunity," said Pistorious.
"As a South African it will be lots of fun to be playing in a tournament with other great names of the sport from my country in Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel. I can't wait to get on the first tee. When the invitation came to play, not even a holiday was going to stop me."
