Third annual Southpaw Open set for June

The Rotary Club of Bournemouth North will be holding its third annual "Southpaw Open" Golf Day charity tournament this summer to benefit terminally ill children

The Rotary Club of Bournemouth North will be holding its third annual "Southpaw Open" Golf Day charity tournament this summer to benefit terminally ill children.

Commencing in 2008, the Southpaw Open has allowed golfers throughout the local area to compete for charity, including 44 left-handed golfers last year.

The tournament, which is open to left-handed golfers only, will take place on the demanding 6496 yards-long parkland course at Canford Magna Golf Club, with all proceeds donated to Julia's House, a Dorset Hospice in Corfe Mullen that gives care to children with debilitating illnesses.

Entry fees for a team of four are £160, while single entry is only £45. For the day, golfers will enjoy an early breakfast, 18 holes of golf, a superb dinner, an award ceremony, a raffle and an auction with many great prizes being offered by different companies supporting the cause.

Last year's event managed to raise over £1000 for charity from supporting sponsors, the raffle and putting competitions alone.
