Par 7 Challenge is an opportunity for any standard of golfer to play golf at some of the world's greatest venues. It is also in support of British service personnel injured on operations serving their country.
A five-man team will attempt to play seven rounds of golf in seven days on seven continents. There are currently three in the team, including two serving amputees. There is opportunity for two more team members, one selected on play the other selected via an auction.
It is hoped that each golf club within the UK pays £250 to enter an individual into one of ten regional heats throughout the country. The top six from each heat will go to the Grand Final in September, with four places reserved for service personnel currently serving abroad who do not hold a UK handicap. The winner of this event will join the world tour.
This may sound like a lot of money lot of money - golfers normally pay £3 - £4 for their weekend competition. The thought is that £1 extra during April and early May to enter a card will soon net the clubs the £250. If your first attempt is poor then try again for another £1.
The team are in negotiations with Keepmoat Stadium Doncaster about holding a "pop concert" sometime in the summer. More information on this will be posted on the web site - par7challenge.info
If your club does not know of this event please ask them to speak to any team member, contact via the website.
Good luck and we hope to welcome one of you onto our team.
