Surrey Golf does Sports Relief
Surrey Golf U14 Futures Coaching Squad raised an impressive £320 for Sports Relief at Pachesham Park Golf Centre in Leatherhead
Surrey Golf U14 Futures Coaching Squad raised an impressive £320 for Sports Relief at Pachesham Park Golf Centre in Leatherhead.
The challenge comprised a chipping and putting contest with people paying a £2 entry fee. Visitors and members of Pachesham Park took part alongside the boys and their parents.
Thirteen-year-old Jack Lumb won the combined event with fourteen-year-old, Travis Leach winning the chipping. Just to prove that the adults can also rise to the challenge one of the parents, Phil Leonard won the putting. Surrey Golf U14 manager, Mark Packer, said: "It was great to see so many boys and parents taking part and giving of their time to help organise the event. We owe a big thank you to them all and also to Pachesham Park for donating the use of their impressive facilities."
The money raised could pay for mosquito nets to protect 64 mothers and their babies from contracting life-threatening malaria while they sleep or to provide a teacher to work with more than 70 street children for six months.
In the next Sports Relief the aim is to widen the challenge to golf clubs all across Surrey.
