SPRINT6GOLF Launch Proves Popular With Golfers
The format uses a 30-second shot clock over six holes to ensure a quick round
The SPRINT6GOLF format plays over six holes with a 30-second shot clock to ensure golfers of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game in just an hour
SPRINT6GOLF, a format of the game over six holes that includes a 30-second shot clock, was launched earlier this month and has already been a success.
The format allows golfers to complete their game in around an hour, significantly shorter than a regular nine or 18 holes, so those who aren't regular golfers or lead busy lifestyles can still enjoy their golf.
In the first 48 hours of its launch over 50 clubs expressed an interest in the new variation and more clubs have been signing up each week.
The format relies on an official smartphone app, which includes the 30-second shot clock.
SPRINT6GOLF's founding man Tom Critchley, the son of Sky Sports commentator and ex-Walker Cup player Bruce Critchley, said that the first month has gone very well.
“By starting at the grassroots level, we’re giving established golfers, as well as those new to the game, the opportunity to discover what SPRINT6GOLF is all about.

“The feedback we’ve received so far has been incredibly positive, with the mobile app in particular proving extremely popular among the younger demographic.
By adding a dynamic new element to playing golf, people are enjoying being able to play more often, as a result of playing more quickly.”
The Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Uxbridge is the official home of SPRINT6GOLF and has already hosted several events with golfers of all ages and abilities.
Both England Golf and The European Tour have committed their support to the new concept, along with 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley and Real Madrid and Wales footballer Gareth Bale.
Golf Clubs are being encouraged to sign up and host official SPRINT6GOLF club night events to promote 'golf in the fast lane'.
On 10th October later this year, the Buckinghamshire Golf Club is hosting the 2016 Amateur Challenge National Final where one person qualifies from each of the 32 qualifying events around the country.
Clubs can get involved in SPRINT6GOLF by contacting the team at clubs@sprint6golf.com.
Golfers can download the free SPRINT6GOLF app by visiting the Apple App Store or Android Marketplace and searching ‘SPRINT6GOLF’.
