Omega unveils new Rory McIlroy advert
Omega has produced a new television advert featuring Rory McIlroy following his victory at the Open Championship.
Omega has produced a new television commercial featuring Rory McIlroy following his victory at the Open Championship.
Filmed in the early morning on the Championship Course in Dubai, home of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, the commercial features McIlroy’s characteristic golf swing complemented by The Script’s hit song “Hall of Fame”.
McIlroy appreciates the theme of the song that is featured in the advert. “At the end of my career I’d like to be in the hall of fame of golf and I want to be remembered as one of the greatest golfers who have ever played,” McIlroy said. “I think there are a few lines in [“Hall of Fame”] that sort of resonate with me and I thought it was a good choice for the commercial.”
In the commercial, McIlroy is filmed from various angles as he drives the ball with the unique Dubai skyline in the background. Versions of the commercial five, 15 and 30 seconds long were produced.
“There was obviously a lot of good stuff that came out of it, especially with the backdrop of Dubai,” McIlroy said. “It’s fun to do these things; it’s a little different from my everyday activities.”
Omega president Stephen Urquhart added. “All of us are so proud that Rory is part of our family of brand ambassadors.

McIlroy has served as an Omega brand ambassador since 2012.
