It’s time for all golf lovers to honour the ‘heroes of junior golf’ by making your nominations for the Golf Foundation’s annual Presidents’ Awards

The Golf Foundation Presidents' Awards celebrate the excellent people who work or volunteer at the grass-roots level of the sport and the high-achieving projects that encourage young people to find their way in the world of golf.

The Presidents’ Awards will take place in May 2016 at Wentworth, the day before the BMW PGA Championship. The event is held courtesy of one of the Foundation’s chief supporters, the European Tour. It is always a superb occasion attended by some of golf’s most influential names.

Brendon Pyle, Chief Executive of the Golf Foundation, said: “Our Presidents' Awards represent a priceless opportunity for this charity and our partners to honour outstanding commitment at the grass roots of junior golf.

“We have welcomed some great people of all ages to the stage at Wentworth in recent years and I am sure we will once again receive some wonderful nominations this year.”

The Golf Foundation urges supporters of the game to make their nominations now, to reward those who give up their time to help the charity’s national ‘HSBC Golf Roots’ programme.

The award winners will all support the Foundation’s purpose to make golf and its benefits accessible to young people and help them ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in the game.

Those who can be nominated for one of eight awards include volunteers, PGA Professionals, teachers, sports-development workers, sport partnerships, local authorities and administrators. Four of these awards are for individuals, with the other four for projects.

The most prestigious prize is the ‘Sir Henry Cotton Award’, which is an accolade given for outstanding service in the development of young golfers over a prolonged period of time.

The closing date for nominations is 31st January 2016 and anyone can vote. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the ‘Presidents’ Awards page at www.golf-foundation.org.
