Faldo wants two more Open appearances
The three-time Open winner wants to play in 2016 and 2017
Sir Nick Faldo has decided to scrap plans to make July's Open his last and wants to play two more.
Sir Nick Faldo has reversed his decision to make July's Open Championship at St Andrews his last and plans to play in two more.
The six-time major winner had announced in April that this year's Open would probably be his last.
However, he took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that he has special reasons for choosing to play the 2016 and 2017 editions of the year's third major.
He said: "Troon was first Open I attended & Birkdale the first I played.
"'15 will be last at St Andrews but I plan to be fit; play 2 more!"
It was thought that Faldo, a three-time Open winner, would not be the only one playing his final Open, with Tom Watson set to compete in his last Open in July.

However, Faldo's turnaround means that he is now likely to finish his Open career at Royal Birkdale in 2017, leaving Watson to bow out on his own.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Faldo's Open win in 1990. He shot rounds of 67, 65, 67 and 71 to finish five shots clear of Mark McNulty and Payne Stewart.
Faldo also won in 1987 and 1992, finishing one shot clear on both occasions.
He will turn 58 during this year's event, where fellow Brit Rory McIlroy will try to defend his title.
Last year, Faldo shot rounds of 76 and 77 at Royal Liverpool.
