American Golf Junior Championship to support Golf Foundation
The equipment provider has announced it will roll out an American Golf Junior Championship across the country this summer, with all proceeds going to The Golf Foundation by Alex Clewett
After the success of its junior event last year, American Golf, in association with Ping will roll out its American Golf Junior Championship across the UK this summer.
All proceeds will be donated to The Golf Foundation, which looks to bring the next generation of golfers into the game.
There will be six regional qualifying events across the country in July and August, with the Grand Final taking place at the Ping headquarters in Gainsborough on 26th August.
The event is open to anyone aged under 18 as of the 1st January 2015, with there being several prize categories from a scratch competition up to nett for handicaps of 54 and below.
Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf, said "We were really inspired by the golfers we met at last year’s event. They were incredibly passionate about their game but they also reminded us how much fun golf can be. We’re excited to widen the reach of the event and give more young golfers the chance to play some great courses.”
Last year's winner Paul Marshall, from Sale Golf Club, has really felt the benefits of the competition saying “Since last year's event I have felt much more comfortable playing golf. I feel much more confident under pressure situations, such as matches and competitions". He will look to defend his title this year.
