The English Golf Union and English Women’s Golf Association has presented Barnham Broom Golf Club with its GolfMark award which recognizes the club’s work in providing many opportunities for junior and beginner golfers in a safe, welcoming and accessible environment.
In order to be eligible for the award, the club had to prove it had all the correct policies and procedures in place, that it offered an environment where staff and volunteers are trained to support the needs of juniors and beginners, and that youngsters are taught a game that will teach them respect, social and life skills, discipline and honesty. Golf Club Secretary Robin Brooks said: “This is a great achievement and represents the culmination of many years’ hard work in improving and developing the facilities at Barnham Broom for our younger members. “As well as our highly respected Junior Academy which is now full with around 50 members, we also offer free membership for those under 14 and reduced fees for those over 14. Plus we have an excellent team on hand to offer help and support.”
Barnham Broom has two of the finest 18-hole championship golf courses in Norfolk, with its Valley Course offering abundant water features and the Hill Course with its wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.
