First hole in one on 10th recorded at Belfry
Teenage golfer Dan O'Connor has become the first ever person to record an official hole in one on the Belfry's iconic 10th hole

Teenage golfer Dan O'Connor has become the first ever person to record an official hole in one on The Belfry's iconic 10th hole.
Hundreds of thousands of golfers, including superstars Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and the late Seve Ballesteros, have taken on the world-famous 10th hole at The Belfry's Brabazon course over the past 35 years, but until March 10, 2012 no one had made an ace there.
O'Connor, 19, from Maesteg, amazed his three playing companions by firing his drive straight for the centre of the green and into the cup from the white tees, a distance of some 301 yards.

Since opening in 1977 The Brabazon course has figured in four Ryder Cups and 11 European Tour events, and the 10th hole has always had its share of drama with its risk/reward element.
"It's my first hole-in-one and definitely the highlight of my golfing career so far," said the assistant at Southerndown Golf Club, Bridgend.
The three-handicapper added: "So many amazing players have tried to reach the 10th, but no one has actually aced it before, so it's made the feeling even more special."
