Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Purse, Prize Money And Field 2023
Ewen Ferguson defends his title as the DP World Tour heads to the Middle East at Doha Golf Club
After a two-week stop in Spain, the DP World Tour heads to the Middle East and Doha for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
In 2022, Ewen Ferguson claimed his maiden DP World Tour win in the tournament when he edged out American Chase Hanna by one shot.
The Scot claimed a second title on the Tour in the ISPS Handa World Invitational later that year and he will be confident of making that three as he defends his title. The man Ferguson beat last year plays too.
One of Ferguson’s main challengers for the title could well be compatriot Robert MacIntyre, who was one of the heroes as Team Europe reclaimed the Ryder Cup trophy earlier in the month.
MacIntryre hasn’t won on the Tour since September last year in the Italian Open at the same venue the match was held, Marco Simone. Can he become the fourth Scot after Andrew Coltart, Paul Lawrie and Ferguson to win the title?
Before Ferguson’s victory, Antoine Rozner won the title in 2021 when he beat three players by a shot, while the year before him, Jorge Campillo claimed victory in a playoff, and both former winners are also in the field, hoping for their fourth DP World Tour titles.
Meanwhile, another former winner in the field this week is Englishman Eddie Pepperell, who took the honours in 2018 thanks to a one-shot win over compatriot Oliver Fisher for his maiden victory on the Tour. Pepperell followed that up with another win later in the year in the British Masters, but he has now been in the hunt for a third DP World Tour title for over five years.

Pepperell has been in indifferent form in recent weeks, but he will be confident he can get firmly back on form here.
Another Englishman who will be hopeful of a strong performance is Marcus Armitage. He finished runner-up to Matt Fitzpatrick at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship earlier in the month, and last week finished T13 in the Andalucia Masters, making him a man in form heading into the tournament.
While 2022 US Open champion Fitzpatrick isn’t playing this week, his brother, Alex, is, as he continues to build a solid reputation in an impressive year so far.
Other notable players in the field include Ryder Cup vice captains Nicolas Colsaerts and Edoardo Molinari, and four-time DP World Tour winner Thriston Lawrence.
Players are competing for a purse of $3.75m. The winner will receive $637,500, while the runner-up will earn $412,500.
