The Belfry welcomed hundreds of golfers of all abilities during its Open Day as members of the local public gained valuable tuition and custom fitting in the resort's world-class facilities on Wednesday, July 21. Golfers of all ages were the benefactors of expert advice provided by over 20 PGA professionals who were on hand throughout the day. The day brought a refreshing junior presence as youngsters, guided by professionals, were given access to all practice facilities with "Closest the Pin", putting and bunker challenges going on throughout the day. The Belfry currently teaches in 18 different schools and have reduced their junior rates to £4, ensuring the resort gives visitors real value for money. Meanwhile, Gary Silcock, the director of golf at The Belfry said: "Serious players were able to gain access to our flight monitor technology and Quintic labs - which were hosted by our 20 PGA professionals - and beginner golfers were given a great base on which to start the game of golf." The Open Day was hosted alongside the ‘Monty's Charity Challenge' that was set up by Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie in aid of his late mother's charity, The Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation. The Challenge, a two-ball better ball Stableford competition open to club captains and officials, saw 130 players compete on The Brabazon course, which was set up to tournament standards.
