Muirfield & Renaissance to host 2016 Boys Amateur Championship
Muirfield and The Renaissance Club have been announced as the host venues of the R&A's 2016 Boys Amateur Championship.
The Renaissance Club will stage the tournament for the first time, along with the 2013 Open Championship host venue, when a 252-strong international field descends upon East Lothian from August 9-14.
The likes of Sandy Lyle, Jose Maria Olazabal, Sergio Garcia, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and 2013 Silver Medal-winning amateur Matt Fitzpatrick have all participated in the Boys Amateur Championship over the years.
"We are delighted to have such excellent championship venues in 2016," said Peter Dawson, the R&A's Chief Executive.
"Muirfield is one of the finest links courses in the world and will provide a stern challenge for the leading boy golfers in the Boys Amateur Championship."
Muirfield, a 16-time Open host, is regarded as one of the finest links courses in the world, and is currently first in Golf Monthly's Top 100 UK & Ireland Golf Course rankings.
