Alan Kronfield and Nina Pegova were the standout performers at the Faldo Series Russia Championship, storming to superb victories over their older competitors to win a place in the Grand Final at the Lough Erne Resort, Northern Ireland in September.
Kronfield and Pegova both recorded two-under-par 54-hole totals at the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club to win the Boys' Under-16 and Girls' Under-16 categories respectively.
Kronfield, only 15 years old, claimed the overall prize after a final round of 68 saw him fire six birdies to come from seven shots behind compatriot Vladimir Osipov.
Kronfield and Pegova will be joined at Lough Erne Resort on September 21-23, by Evgeniy Volkov (Boys' Under-21), Dmitry Mateshin (Boys' Under-18) and Polina Vorobieva (Girls' Under-21) who all held their nerve to win after three days of stiff competition.
Faldo Series director, Kerry McDonald, explained the event's success, saying: "Golf in Russia is still very much in its infancy but, since the Faldo Series Russia Championship was started three years ago, we have noticed a huge improvement, both in the number of competitors and the quality of golf played.
"This year, we saw some incredible golf, particularly from Nina and Alan, and both will be strong challengers at Lough Erne Resort this September."
