The third edition of the Auld Enemies Cup will take place next week, from Thurdasy 13th to Sunday 16th June, as members of the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership will travel to Kinross Golf Club's Montgomery Golf Course to take on their English counterparts.
The format is similar to the Ryder Cup, with a foursome on the opening day, a fourball on Saturday and the traditional week ending singles on Sunday. Both teams include players with various disabilities such as amputees, stroke and car accident victims, members who are blind and golfers with cerebral palsy to name but a few.
One of the Team Scotland's competitors, Derek Milne from Fife said: "I have never played in a competition of this type before and am thrilled if not a little nervous.
"This type of event is a real showcase for disabled golf as it covers the whole spectrum of disabilities & is not restricted to just one. I am sure that all the members of the SDGP will wish the team all the best in trying to win this year's match".
The English team, ironically led by Scot, Graeme Robertson added: "We are looking forward to locking horns again with our Scottish counterparts, we are level at 1-1 after the two previous encounters (Slaley Hall in 2011 and Breadsall Priory, Derby in 2012).
"I have put together a team that represents what the Disabled Golf Association is all about, different abilities/disabilities, ages and parts of the country joining together.
"We will be going up to Scotland to try to win back the cup, but to enjoy the camaraderie and to uphold the legacy of the Paralympics to show the power of the human mind to overcome adversity"
