WGC-Cadillac Match Play Betting Tips
A new week, brings a new look to a tournament being played at a new course.
The WGC-Cadillac Match Play is one of the highlights of the season, with the biggest names in golf taking each other on head to head.
The tournament has moved to Harding Park in San Francisco this season from the desert course of Dove Mountain.
The new format means that all entrants will at least have three rounds of golf as they are in 16 four-man groups, with the top player in each group going through to the straight knock-out stages.
It is also a tournament where you have to be very tactical with your betting. Identify each quarter of the draw and try and pick someone who will make it through.

You obviously don’t want to pick two people who are in the ame group and can knock one of your picks out. Take a look at the draw and brackets for the 2015 WGC Match Play
Last year the event was won by Jason Day and he is 16/1 to repeat the feat this weekend. Short priced favourites are Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, the world’s top two players are 10/1
The event is always good for at least one outsider making it to the semi-finals and an each way return.
As ever the £10 betting challenge with our bloggers DownThe18th continues – results so far are at the bottom of this post.
WGC- Cadillac Match Play betting tips advised bets
Patrick Reed – £1.50 each way at 25/1 – Is in the Jordan Spieth quarter of the draw, but that will not perturb him. Two Englishman in his group Andy Sullivan and Danny Willet should not put him off and if Spieth slips up he could set up a great quarter final against Jason Day.
Ian Poulter – £1.50 Each way at 35/1 – Could come up against his old mate Justin Rose in the round of 16. But Europe’s Ryder Cup Talisman, who is so tough to beat at Matchplay, looks a good bet to get through his group or Gary Woodland, Webb Simpson and Jimmy Walker. Also he has won this event before in 2010.
Rickie Fowler – £1 each way at 40/1 – Is in for me the weakest section of the draw, an I am surprised he is such long odds. He is an excellent matchplayer with good success in Walker and Ryder Cups as well as a 3rd place finish last season in this event. Will need to squeeze past Graeme McDowell, Shane Lowry and Harris English from his group… which I suspect he will.
Victor Dubission – £1 each way at 66/1 – The Frenchman has not been in great form this season, but is a very decent matchplay golfer and his odds are long due to him being in the Rory Quarter of the draw. Should get past Schwartzel and Matt Jones to set up a battle against Dustin Johnson for top spot in the group.
