AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am: day two
Matt Jones and Brandt Snedeker share the joint lead at 12-under
Matt Jones and Brandt Snedeker share the lead at 12-under par
Matt Jones and Brandt Snedeker share the lead at 12 under in the AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am. Justin Hicks, co-leader with JB Holmes after the first day’s play, lies a shot behind.
Snedeker went round Spyglass Hill in 67, hitting every green in regulation, for the first time in a round in his tour career. Jones shot 66 at Spyglass Hill.
Snedeker is currently ranked 63rd in the world, and a good result here will help his aim to claim back a place inside the world top 50 when US Masters qualification is decided. He has just over a month in which to do it. He has played in seven Masters including twice in the final pair on the last day.
"I've gotten used to a certain schedule, and I'm not in any of the tournaments I'm used to this year," Snedeker said after the second round. "It's no fun not being eligible for the Masters, not playing World Golf Championships, and stuff like that."
Snedeker, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am in 2013, is one of only two men yet to make a bogey this week. Billy Horschel, who lies in a tie for 4th at 10 under, is the other.
Jason Day shot 62 at Monterey Peninsula, the second time in his past 11 tour rounds that he has made a 62, having done so also in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Day’s round was more remarkable as he was feeling ill with a stomach complaint and he had considered withdrawing only half an hour before he was due to tee off.
JB Holmes, co-leader at the start of the day , fell to 37th after a 73. John Daly, who was third overnight, shot a one-over par 72 at Monterey Peninsula and also fell to 37th. Padraig Harrington added a 71 to his opening 68 and has dropped to 60th
