Money raised for the Bobby Moore Fund
An exceptional amount of money was raised for the Bobby Moore fund at the David Seaman Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic
Last weekend Parque da Floresta Golf & Leisure Resort teamed up with legendary goalkeeper David Seaman MBE for the seventh year running to host his Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic, in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. The two-day competition, sponsored by Zurich International Solutions and HSBC Global Asset Management, was a huge success, raising in excess of £145,000 for the charity.
22 teams participated in the event, playing alongside David Seaman and personalities from the world of sport and entertainment. The final winners, with a score of 86, were former international and Rugby World Cup winner Kyran Bracken MBE and Jamie Burton, Craig Young and Tommy Maher from Johnson Fitness.
The weekend concluded with a glamorous gala dinner where guests bid for auction prizes including a unique bronze cast of Bobby Moore s left boot which he wore in the 1966 World Cup final, raising £4,600 for the charity. Two lucky bidders also won an exclusive golfing experience at the prestigious Loch Lomond, the number one golf course in Scotland, with David Seaman MBE and ex-England International David Platt, paying £6,000 each for the privilege.
The record figure was announced ahead of an impressive firework display which was set off over the Parque da Floresta golf course, drawing a close to the event.
