The Troon Golf management company has been selected by Kerzner International to run the Gary Player Signature design course at the Mazagan Resort, El Jadida, Morocco.
The $350 million Mazagan Resort will be completed by autumn 2009 and will consist of an 18-hole golf course, a 500-room hotel, 12 restaurants, a luxurious spa, casino, nightclub and a conference centre.
Designed across undulating sand dunes with holes stretching out along the Atlantic coastline, the par-72 golf course will feature some stunning views and should provide a fair challenge to golfers of all abilities.
Bruce Glasco, Troon Golf’s senior vice president and Managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Our industry leading best practices and management skills, combined with Kerzner International’s experience and the design talent of Gary Player, are the ideal ingredients for success at Mazagan.”
The fully-equipped clubhouse will include a spacious locker room and a golf shop stocked with top brands. A restaurant and terrace bar will enhance the experience as will the indigenous building style.
With courses around the world such as the Turnberry Resort in Scotland, host of the 2009 Open Championship, under the management of Troon Golf, the future of the magnificent Mazagan Resort is very exciting.
Coupled with plans to include another 18-hole course, an equestrian centre and two additional five-star hotels, the resort promises to be extremely popular for years to come.
