The Centurion Club Opens for Play
One of the most eagerly-awaited new golf courses in England, the Centurion Club, was unveiled on July 1st.
The Centurion Club near St Albans opened for play on July 1st, 2013. The Club's 7,064-yard golf course has been described as a "modern classic" and membership sales are already ahead of target.
"July 1st was a proud day for all of us," confirmed Managing Director, Scott Evans.
"We always said that our location would be one of our biggest plus points and that has been borne out by the fact that we've been attracting members from north and central London, Middlesex and all over Hertfordshire."
One of the owners' first decisions was to entrust Simon Gidman, a former President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects, with the task of building a top quality course.
The new course meanders through woodland and over parkland and provides golfers with views over the scenic Hertfordshire countryside.
Each hole has its own individual character. "It is a course that will excite and test golfers in equal measure and will be quickly seen as a modern classic," wrote Michael Harris, Golf Monthly editor.
The Club is currently offering three different memberships categories: Senate, Centurion and Corporate.
