Butch Harmon has officially launched The Butch Harmon School of Golf at The Els Club, Dubai Sports City – a facility that will be run by his son Claude.
The School will provide the coaching curriculum for the best players, as well as offering the opportunity for young locals to develop their games.
“Today’s launch of The Butch Harmon School of Golf here in Dubai – the first of its kind outside the US – is truly a special moment for all of us who have been involved on this magnificent project since its inceptions,” said the 65-year-old coach.
Eight Emirati juniors received a free golf lesson at the School to celebrate the launch, and Claude, who coached 2008 US Masters winner Trevor Immelman, was pleased to get things going.
“It’s a great day for all of us, but now the hard work begins. We wanted to start with local kids since it’s so important for the future of golf here,” said Claude.
Harmon Senior – son of 1948 US Masters champion, Claude Harmon Jr - has coached some of the best players in the world including Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Ernie Els.
