Golfers in the forthcoming Alfred Dunhill Links Championship may be taking home a special souvenir of their rounds, thanks to Shotmiser.
OptimizeGolf, the company behind the unique hand-held GPS system, has won a contract from Alfred Dunhill to provide special souvenir images of the rounds completed by the top 20 pro-am teams in the tournament for the sixth year running.
The images use Shotmiser’s technology to record and map the rounds on the Old Course at St Andrew’s on to an image of the course and recipients in previous years have included such high profile amateurs as Michael Douglas, Samuel L Jackson and Hugh Grant.
The Dunhill Links competition is a 72-hole tournament played over the Old Course, the Championship Course at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns Golf Links and was won by Robert Karlsson in 2008. A total of 156 teams take part in this year’s event which begins on 1 October.
Scorers accompanying the teams which go through to the top 20, playing on the final day, use Shotmiser to map the players’ games as they play, providing an accurate record of the direction and distance of each stroke. The information is then overlaid on to an image of the Old Course, providing a unique record of each player’s round as a souvenir.
Shotmiser is one of a range of golf products developed by OptimizeGolf which specialises in image-based course information systems.
