Nike VRS Covert 2.0 Matte Black driver unveiled

Nike Golf has taken the covers off a limited-edition matte black VRS Covert 2.0 driver that features a black Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G grip and Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black shaft.

The new design was apparently modelled on matte black college football helmets in America, which have popped up increasingly in recent years.

“The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver offers a unique, limited-edition design combined with Nike’s high speed cavity back technology,” Rob Arluna, Nike Golf Global Golf Club Business Director, told GM. “The black matte finish on the head provides a sleek, modern aesthetic and eliminates glare. The black grip and shaft give the driver a stealth, covert look.”

The High-Speed Cavity Back technology remains the same as in the orignial red Nike VRS Covert 2.0 version, with Nike's Fly-Brace technology tying the sole to the crown to stiffen the rear portion of the club to transfer more energy to the face at impact.

The Matte Black driver will be available from May 2014, available in right hand only at £249.99.
