McIlroy joins OMEGA as brand ambassador
Rory McIlroy signs new partnership deal with the Swiss watchmaker.
Rory McIlroy has signed a deal with Swiss watchmaker OMEGA, to become one of the brand's ambassadors.
McIlroy joins a roster of ambassadors featuring golf legend Greg Norman, and figures from the world of entertainment, such as George Clooney and James Bond star Daniel Craig.
Stephen Urquhart, the president of OMEGA said, "Rory is one of those golfers who lights up every course he plays on. In recent years, he has been golf's most exciting player and he has already attracted legions of new fans.
"He's the sort of golfer who is good for the sport and its image. I can hardly wait to see how far his extraordinary talent will take him. We are all delighted that he is now part of the OMEGA family."
The current world number two has struggled so far in 2013, but his recent second place finish at the Texas Valero Open has boosted his confidence ahead of the Masters, which will be the Northern Irishman's first event since the announcement.
"OMEGA has a rich history in sport, both with the Olympics and in golf, and I have always had great experiences playing in its events." McIlroy said.
"I have been a fan of the brand for a long time so to now be an OMEGA ambassador is special for me. I am truly excite about this new partnership and look forward to many great years together."

In 2011, OMEGA signed a multi-year partnership with The PGA of America, and the recent partnership with golf's hottest property, has highlighted the sports importance in the brand's global marketing strategy.
