Lumb announced as PGA captain-elect
PGA Master Professional and long-standing board member Nicky Lumb has been named as the PGA's captain-elect
PGA board member and Master Professional Nicky Lumb has been named as PGA captain-elect and will take over from Neil Selwyn-Smith in just over two years.
Selwyn-Smith will replace current incumbent Eddie Bullock in April next year, with Lumb starting the two-year ambassadorial role in April 2015.
Lumb - who has worked at the Bristol Golf Centre for the past 12 years - expressed his surprise at being invited to captain the world's oldest golfers' association.
"It had never entered my head that I would ever be captain of the PGA but I am very honoured and pleased to accept," said Lumb.
He started his golfing career as a junior and decided to become a PGA Professional after a serious illness in his mid-20s.
"I had always played golf. My wife, Kathy, was a two-time Curtis Cup player, and my brother was a pro, so in 1975 I followed in his footsteps."
He became fully qualified in 1980 and was appointed head coach of Filton Golf Club just six months after joining as an assistant.

He became a senior tutor in 1988 and chairman of the PGA training committee a year later, and has served on the PGA Board of Directors since 2001.
"Nicky is a well-respected and innovative pro who has been a long-standing PGA board member and has also been an instrumental figure in helping develop the PGA's education programmes, both as chairman of the training committee and as a tutor," said PGA chief executive Sandy Jones.
"He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the golf industry and we look forward to him representing the Association with distinction."
