Golf Tourism Scotland announces award winners
The winners of this year's Golf Tourism Scotland Gold Standard Awards have been announced during a ceremony at the new-look Turnberry Resort.

The winners of this year's Golf Tourism Scotland Gold Standard Awards have been announced during a ceremony at the new-look Turnberry Resort.
At the gala event, which was attended by over 140 golf industry professionals, 20 nominees vied for three, golf-specific awards.
One of the most hotly contested categories was the Golf Course of the Year award which this year went to Turnberry's Ailsa Course.
"It's fantastic to be recognised in this way," said Stewart Selbie, general manager at Turnberry Resort. "Having the Open Championship has been pretty special. It's the number one Major in the world [so] we closed the course for an unprecedented eight months before the Open so we could present it in the best possible way."
Other awards went to North Berwick Golf Club, which was named as the leading golf secretariat, and Davy Gilchrist of Kingsbarns Golf Links, who picked up this year's caddie master award.
On the night, GTS chairman Nick Hunter, said the awards had surpassed even his expectations. "It's been a terrific night," he said.
"We've seen the very best exponents of golf tourism in Scotland, all of whom have excelled in very difficult conditions. The Gold Standard Awards are a great way of celebrating what we do best, and I think this awards evening has been the best yet in terms of accrediting the practitioners that make our industry shine."
